Dusty Santamaria + Moira Ichiban
Songwriter, poet Dusty Santamaria met multidisciplinary artist Moira Ichiban on a full moon night in Portland, Oregon. They fell in love, bowed out of their urban lifestyles and ran away together to form an art focused Rock n Roll band in the Southern California desert.
Delving deep into the recesses of Rock n Roll psyche, the duo draw influence from Mid-Century R&B, Doo-Wop and Punk as well as Surrealism and Ritual Magick. The music is ablaze with shouts, shudders and symbolism. Ichiban’s primitive drum style and Santamaria’s swamp-water guitars serve as a backdrop for vivid, impressionistic lyrics. The sound has been described as ‘Avant Garage Voo-Doo-Wop’.
Dusty Santamaria + Moira Ichiban released their debut album, Love Under Will, on their own Voodoo It Yourself label in early 2018; they spent the remainder of the year touring DIY circuits of the Western United States and Europe. 2019 sees the release of the couple’s second album, Innersexion. Santamaria and Ichiban also exhibit visual art and are exploring new mediums such as video and publishing.
